NM Lyon of Australia captured 13 wickets conceding 154 runs against Bangladesh at Chittagong to provide the 55th occasion of a bowler capturing 13 or more wickets in a test. The last occasion when West Indies batsmen had posted a 200 plus runs partnership on away soil was against India at Bengaluru in Nov 1974, which incidentally was Bengaluru’s first ever test. JE Root of England scored 59 in the first innings of the ongoing Leeds test against West Indies to emulate AB de Villiers of South Africa who had scored fifty in twelve consecutive test matches. As on date AB de Villers and JE Root are the only two batsmen in the annals of test cricket to  score a fifty in twelve consecutive test matches. JE Root went past – IVA Richards of West Indies, G Gambhir of India, V Sehwag of India and Mominul Haque of Bangladesh who had scored a fifty in eleven consecutive tests – on his way to share the world record.
