JM Anderson of England captured his 700th test wicket when he captured the wicket of Kuldeep Yadav caught by wicket keeper Foakes for 30.  He became the third bowler in the history of test cricket to capture 700 plus wickets. Others are – M Muralitharan {800} and SK Warne {708}.  JM Anderson became the first pace bowler in the history of test cricket to capture 700 wickets

Shaoaib Bashir returned with figures of five for 173 to provide the 71st occasion of an England bowler capturing five or more wickets against India. It also provides the 33rd occasion of an England bowler capturing five or more wickets against India in India

Shaoaib Bashir returned with figures of five for 173 to provide the eleventh occasion of an England bowler capturing five or more wickets conceding 100 plus runs against India. It also provides the seventh occasion of an England bowler capturing five or more wickets conceding 100 plus runs against India in India

Shoaib Bashir’s five for 173 in India’s first innings not only represents the first occasion of an England bowler conceding 150 plus runs capturing five wickets against India, but also represents the most expensive bowling figures by an England bowler against India in terms of runs conceded.

Two other England bowlers who have conceded more runs in an innings are – IAR Peebles – Six for 204 against Australia at The Oval in Aug 1930 and T Richardson – Five for 181 against Australia at Sydney in Dec 1894.

Z Crawley was dismissed for zero in England’s second innings. He had scored 79 in England’s first innings in this test. It provides the 17th occasion of an England batsman scoring zero and a half century in a test against India. All such occasions are tabulated below.

R Ashwin’s five for 77 in England’s second innings was his 36th five wicket haul. He now owns the Indian record for most five wicket haul by a bowler. He went past A Kumble who held the previous record with 35 five wicket hauls.

Other bowlers to capture 36 or more five wicket hauls in the annals test cricket are – M Muralitharan {67}, SK Warne {37} and RJ Hadlee {36}

JM Bairstow scored three boundary sixes in his knock of 39 in England’s second innings. The total number of boundary sixes scored in this series read 102. This series has the distinction of becoming the first test series in the annals of test cricket in which 100 plus boundary sixes have been scored.

R Ashwin’s five wicket haul in England’s second innings fetched him 100 wickets against England on home soil. He became the first Indian bowler to capture 100 plus wickets against an opposition on home soil and the third bowler to perform such a feat on home soil. Others are – SCJ Broad of England – 106 wickets against Australia and JM Anderson of England – 105 wickets against Australia.

R Ashwin’s five wicket haul fetched him his 28th five wicket haul on home soil.  Only M Muralitharan has captured 45 five wickets hauls on home soil more than R Ashwin

R Ashwin’s aggregate of wickets when he has opened the bowling read 175. He is the only spin bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 175 wickets when a spinner has shared the new ball

R Ashwin’s five wicket hauls when he has opened the bowling read 17. He is the only spin bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 17 five wicket hauls when a spinner has shared the new ball
