He would go past HMRKB Herath of Sri Lanka who had taken 26 five wicket hauls on home soil, to occupy the second place. M Muralitharan occupy the first place with 45 five wicket hauls on home soil.

R Ashwin had captured 349 wickets on home soil prior to the start of England’s second innings. He captured five wickets in Englanf’s second innings which fetched him 354 wickets on home soil. He became the second Indian bowler and also the fifth bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 350 wickets on home soil. Others are – M Muralitharan {493], JM Anderson {434}, SCJ Broad {398} and A Kumble {350}

R Ashwin now holds the Indian record for most wickets on home soil with 354 wickets to his credit. He went past A Kunble who held the record previously with 350 wickets
