Abrar Ahmed captured five wickets in an extended first session. He became the second bowler to capture five wickets in the first session on the first day. The other bowler to perform such a feat was AL Valentine of West Indies against England at Manchester in 1950
There are two more debutants who have captured five or more wickets in the first session on the first day. CTB Turner of Australia took six wickets against England at Sydney in 1887 {in the session between Lunch and Tea, as there was no play till Lunch}. F Martin of England took five wickets against Australia at The Oval in 1890Abrar Ahmed accounted for the first seven England batmen on his test debut. The only other bowler to account for first seven or more batsman on test debut was AL Valentine. He accounted for the first eight England batsmen on his test debut against England at Manchester in 1950.
His effort of seven for 114 on test debut has come in least number of overs bowled by a bowler who has performed the feat in first innings of a test. He captured 7-114 in 22.0 overs. Previously this record was held by South African bowler M de Lange who had figures of 23.4-3-81-7 in the first innings of the test against Sri Lanka at Durban in Dec 2011
