He now occupies the second place amongst the Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets against New Zealand. He went past EAS Prasanna who had captured 55 wickets. BS Bedi with 57 wickets occupies the first place.

R Ashwin’s lone wicket on the fourth day fetched him an aggregate of 417 wickets in his test career. He now shares the third place amongst the Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets in their test career with Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan Singh has captured 417 wickets. A Kumble {619} and Kapil Dev {434} occupy the first two places.

R Ashwin is one of the three right arm spin bowlers to capture fifty plus wickets against New Zealand with 56 wickets to his credit. EAS Prasanna {55} and A Kumble {50} are the other two bowlers. Thus R Ashwin now holds the record for most wickets by an Indian right arm spin bowler against New Zealand.

R Ashwin’s 56 wickets against New Zealand is also a record for an Indian right arm bowler.

W Saha scored 61 not out in India’s second innings to provide the 17th occasion of an Indian wicket keeper scoring a fifty in a test innings against New Zealand. It also represents his third fifty against New Zealand.
