He earned the distinction of becoming the second captain to score a century and a half-century in a test in the annals of test cricket. V Kohli scored 97 and 103 in the ongoing test against England at Nottingham as at the lunch on the third day of the test providing the fifth occasion of his scoring fifties in both innings of a test as Indian captain.
