He made his test debut against Sri Lanka at Brisbane in Nov 2007 and his farewell test was against New Zealand at Perth in Nov 2015,

He is one of the two Australian cricketers who have scored 2000 plus rest runs and capture 300 plus test wickets. He has scored 2034 runs and captured 310 wickets prior to the start of  the Perth test against New Zealand. The other Australian cricketer to perform such feat was SK Warne – 3154 runs and 708 wickets

He is one of three left arm pace bowlers in the world to score score 2000 plus runs and capture 300 plus test wickets. Others are WPUJC Vaas of Sri Lanka and Wasim Akram of Pakistan

MG Johnson has scored a century in his test career – 123 not out against South Africa at Cape Town in Mar 2009. His best innings bowling effort was 8 for 61 against South Africa at Perth in Dec 2008.

Apart from is  only hundred with the willow he has scored eleven half centuries. He has captured five or more wickets on twelve occasions and ten or more wickets in a match on three occasion. His best match effort was 12 for 127 – against South Africa at Centurion in Feb 2014

His best bowling effort in one day games was against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on 10.08.11 when he returned with figures of 6 for 31.  He has captured 25 wickets in World Cup from 15 games.

He played 30 T20Is to capture 38 wickets. His best was 3 for 15 against Sri Lanka at Bridgetown on 09.05.10 in a World Cup T20I. He appeared in 14 T20I World Cup games to captured 20 wickets

Australian test grounds have witnessed six test centuries on nine occasions including the ongoing Perth test against New Zealand. On all the other eight occasions in which six test centuries were scored the aggregate of these six centuries never exceeded one thousand runs. The highest aggregate was 995 at Adelaide against India in Jan 1968. The Perth test is the only test in Australia to witness 1000 plus runs when it witnessed six centuries. It has witnessed 1087 runs in the ongoing test

The first ever test was played in 1877 in Australia at Melbourne and it is interesting to note that in these 138 years of test cricket – an Australian ground has witnessed six hundreds and the aggregate of these six hundreds exceeding 1000 plus runs for the first time.

Australia has hosted 400 tests including the ongoing test against New Zealand and this is the first occasion the total of six hundreds at any ground exceeded 1000 plus runs and the Perth is crowned with this record
