MRKPL-M19-Bijapur Bulls vs Rockstars at Mysuru on 13.09.15-Bijapur Bulls won by 97 runs

B Akhil scored a quikfire 69 not out in this game – his first fifty coming in 22 balls – and helped his team to a facile 97 run win over Rockstars. B Akhil {69 not out} and M Nidesh {57} and their stand worth 67 for the fifth wicket helped Bijapur Bulls to post a score of 197 for 5 in the allotted twenty overs. C Raghu was the pick of the bowlers for Rockstars with a bag of 2 for 13.

Rockstars on the had did not have the batsmen to chase the imposing total and folded up at 100 for 9. KP Appanna, SN Raju and KC Cariappa shared the six wickets between them, while the remaining three wickets that fell in the Rockstar’s innings were shared by A Somanna, A MIthun and D Chougule.

MRKPL-M20-Hubli Tigers vs Namma Shivamogga at Mysuru on 13.09.15-Hubli Tigers won by 15 runs

Hubli Tigers opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted 177 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. The opening partnership of 108 runs between Mohd Taha {64} and inform KB Pawan {47} was instrumental in Hubli Tigers posting the match winning total. S Gopal was the most successful bowler for Namma Shivamogga with 3 for 34.

SH Kirmani – the inform opener for Namma Shivamogga – continued his form with the willow and scored his fourth fifty of the tournament. He made 89 in this game. His knock went in vain as his team were dismissed all out for 162 leaving Hubli Tigers victors by 15 runs. CK Akshay, PA Jain, Shivil Kaushik reaped the harvest by picking up two wickets each. Much was expected of skipper STR Binny – he failed to deliver – was dismissed for a first ball duck – much to the disappointment of not only of his team but also of the spectators. Most of these 71 runs came from the blade of SH Kirmani. 40 runs were added for the seventh wicket between SH Kirmani and B Gulecha after Namma Shivamogga lost its six wickets for 91 runs. SH Kirmani departed at 158 and his wicket was the seventh wicket to fall in Namma Shivamoga’s innnings. Four runs later it was all over for Namma Shivamoga as they failed to reach the target by 15 runs.

MRKPL-M21-Belagavi Panthers vs Bellary Tuskers at Mysuru on 14.09.15-Bellary Tuskers won by seven wickets

Belagavi Panthers posted a none-too-comfortable total of 136 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs and Bellary Tuskers found an easy target to romp by seven wickets. Prasanna Patil put breaks on the Belagavi Panthers bandwagon with a bag of 3 for 20. AM Reddy, celebrtated his 24th birthday by scoring 35 runs.

Batting second, B Chipli and Amit Verma made mincemeat of R Vinay Kumar’s bowling brigade. Both scored half centuries and ensured a 111 runs partnership between them. Captain B Chipli scored 63, while Amit Verma made 58 not out.

Off to a good start – an opening stand of 66 runs – through its openerd R Samarth and RR Bhatkal – Bijapur Bulls sailed to a comfortable win to win the game by seven wickets. RV Uthappa scored 49 not out and ensured that more wickets did not fall in Bijapur Bulls innings. He played very sensibly and rotated the strike. He added 37 runs in the company of SN Raju for the third wicket and also added 54 runs in an unfinished stand for the fourth wicket with M Nidiesh.

Bellary Tuskers were dismissed for 164 in this game and they defended the total to win the game by seven runs. PU Deshpande {40} and Amit Verma {38} contributed to Bellary Tusker’s total of 164. Mitrakant Yadav was the wrecker-in-cheif with a bag of 4 for 19. His 4 for 19 has the followng accreditations.

K Gowtham’s 32 wickets aggregate in KPL has come when he has represented three teams – Malnad Gladiators, Belgavi Panthers and Mysuru Warriors

AM Reddy and MA Agarwal scored identical runs of 12 each as openers in this game to provide the third occasion of both the openers scoring identical runs in KPL.

G Chiranjeeve effected a stumping dismissal in this game to provide the 65th occasion of a wicket keeper effecting a stumping dismissal in KPL

Namma Shivamogga has posted a tea total of 160 plus runs in four games out of the five games they played in KPL 2015. Namma Shivamogga has made its debut in KPL this season. This is the fifth game for Namma Shivamogga.

MA Agarwal has an aggregate of 61 boundary fours at the end of this game. He became the second batsman to total 60 plus boundary fours in KPL after KK Nair. KK Nair has scored 65 boundary fours.

R Vinay Kumar is the only all rounder in the KPL tournament to capture 25 plus wickets and score 450 plus runs. At the end of this game, he has taken 29 wickets and scored 463 runs.

R Jonathan has an aggregate of 679 runs at the end of this game. He now occupies the second place in the list of batsmen who have scored most runs in KPL. The first place is occupied by MA Agarwal who has amassed 740 runs. R Jonathan went past B Chipli who had an aggregate of 651 runs on his way to second position.

R Jonathan’s 77 in this game provide the 107th occasion of a batsman scoring a fifty in KPL

R Jonathan’s boundary sixes aggregate read 26 at the end of this game. He became the third batsman to score 25 plus sixes in KPL. Others are – MA Agarwal {33} and B Chipli {28}

This win gave Belagavi Panthers its 16th win in KPL and now they own the record for most wins in KPL. They went past Bijapur Bulls which has won 15 games.

KK Nair had a couple of records in this no result game. KK Nair’s first boundary four during his knock of 73 not out in this game gave him his 59th boundary four and with it the record of most boundary fours in KPL. He went past MA Agarwal who had scored 58 boundary fours. His aggregate of boundary fours in KPL read 65 at the end of this game. He earned the distinction of becoming the first batsman in KPL to score 60 plus boundary fours.

KK Nair completed 600 runs in this game when he was on 23 during his knock of 73 not out. At the end of this game, his run aggregate read 650. He became the fourth batsman to total 600 plus runs in IPL. Others are – MA Agarwal {724], B Chipli [608} and R Jonathan {602}

With 650 runs to his credit, KK Nair now occupies the second place in the list of batsmen who have scored most runs in the tournament. MA Agarwal with 724 runs occupies the first place.

This game witnessed rival captains who also kept wickets for thier teams. K Sudeep was the captain wicket keeper for Rockstars while DT Patil led Bellary Tuskers and kept wickets

Amit Verma captured four wickets for five runs in this game to provide the 27th occasion of a bowler capturing four or more wickets in KPL. He also became the third bowler to capture exact four wickets conceding single digit runs in KPL. Rockstars were dismissed for 78 in this game to provide the seventh occasion of a team dismissed all out for a total less than 100 runs in KPL

Bellary Tuskers won this game by ten wickets to provide the second occasion of a team winning a game without losing a wicket in KPL. The other occasion was Mysuru Warriors winning the game against Rockstars at Mysore on 04.09.14. Thus Rockstars became the first team to lose a game by ten wickets on two occasions.
