YBK Jaiswal needed 21 more runs for his double hundred. He got these runs and scored 209 in this innings. He became the second Indian opening batsman to score a double hundred against England after SM Gavaskar. SM Gavaskar had scored 221 at The Oval in Aug 1979.

Incidentally SM Gavaskar is one of the commentators for this test. YBK Jaiswal became the second Indian opening batsman to score a double hundred against England after 44 Years four months – Calculated on the basis of the start date of the match

YBK Jaiswal became the first Indian opening batsman to score a double hundred against England in India. He went past KL Rahul’s 199 at Chennai in Dec 2015.
