Sri Lanka gained a first innings lead of 150 runs when they were all out for 240 runs. Umar Gul {4 for 43} and Saeed Ajmal {4 for 87} were the main wicket takers for Pakistan. Saeed Ajmal registered his best innings figures when he returned with figures of 31.0-5-87-4 in this innings. He was playing his second after making his debut at Galle, in the first test of the series.

Sri Lanka carved its first home series win against Pakistan when they won this test by

seven wickets. This test witnessed an astonishing collapse of the Pakistan batting order. They were 285 for one and lost the remaining nine wickets for the addition of 35 runs.
