JE Root of England becomes the second batsman to score ten or more half centuries in a calendar year after AR Border

JE Root of England with his 73 against South Africa in the ongoing Boxing Day test at Durban became the second batsman in the annals of test cricket to score ten or more half centuries in a calendar year.  His half century – 60 not out – was his tenth half century in 2015.  AR Border of Australia had scored eleven half centuries in 1989.
