Opening batsman carrying the bat through the completed innings in a test – D Elgar of South Africa is the new entrant to the list

D Elgar of South Africa carried his bat through the completed innings against England at Durban in the ongoing Boxing Day test to provide the 51st occasion of a batsman carrying the bat through the completed innings in the annals of test cricket. The 50th such occasion befell on India’s CA Pujara who carried his bat through the completed innings against Sri Lanka at Col-SSC in Aug 2015. All the fifty one occasions are listed below
