BJ Watling’s feat provide the third occasion of a New Zealand wicket keeper effecting six or more dismissals in a test innings. Other two occasions are – seven dismissals by IDS Smith against Sri Lanka at Hamilton in Feb 1991 and six dismissals by BJ Watling himself against India at Auckland in Feb 2014. Thus BJ Watling became the second New Zealand wicket keeper to effect six or more dismissals against Sri Lanka in a test innings.

BJ Watling’s feat of six dismissals in a test innings in the ongoing test against Sri Lanka represent his second such performance. Earlier he had effected six dismissals against India at Auckland in Feb 2014. BJ Watling joined the elite list of wicket keepers who have effected six or more dismissals on two or more occasions. He is the first New Zealand wicket keeper to achieve such a feat and fifth overall. The full list comprises of MV Boucher of South Africa on four occasions, CMW Read of England on three occasions.
