V Kohli’s another milestone – becomes the third Indian batsman to total 1000 plus runs in five or more calendar years.

V Kohli’s one day run aggregate at the end of the five match series against Sri Lanka read 1017 in the calendar year 2017. It provides the fifth occasion of V Kohli totaling 1000 runs in a calendar year. He became the third Indian batsman to perform the feat of scoring 1000 runs in a calendar year on five or more occasions. The others are – SC Ganguly {06} and SR Tendulkar {07}. The performances of these three batsmen are detailed below.

V Kohli became the first batsman to aggregate 1000 plus runs in the calendar year 2017. He reached the milestone when he was on 93 during the course of his knock of 110 not out against Sri Lanka at Col-RPS on 31.08.17. His run aggregate read 1017 at the end of this game

Another interesting stats about V Kohli is that he has scored four or more centuries in each of the five calendar years in which he has totalled 1000 plus runs. He is the only Indian batsman to perform such a feat

V Kohli scored consecutive hundreds – 131 at Col-RPS on 31.08.17 and 110 not out at Col-RPS on 03.0.17 to provide the fifth occasion of his scoring two consecutive centuries in an innings. He became the second batsman in the annals of one day games to score two or more consecutive centuries in an innings on five or more occasions. AB de Villiers of South Africa is the other batsman with six such performances to his credit

KC Cariappa’s lone wicket  in this  game fetched him an aggregate of 30 wickets in KPL. He became the bowler to capture 30 plus wickets in KPL as at the end of Mysuru Warrior’s innings.  Others are – K Gowtham {48}, R Vinay Kumar {43}, J Suchith {42}, VV Kumar {35}, Amit Verma {34}, NC Aiyappa {31} and SL Akshay {31}

 

RG More captured 4 for 25  in this game to provide the 36th occasion of a  bowler capturing four or more wickets in an innings in KPL. It also provides the third occasion of Bijapur Bulls bowler capturing four wickets in KPL. Others are – N Mulky – 4-15 vs Mangalore at Bangalore on 19.09.10 and KC Cariappa – 4-19 vs Rockstars at Bangalore on 07.09.14

 

RG More registered his best bowling figures in KPL with his 4 for 25 in this game. His previous best was 2 for 14 representing Mangalore against Mysuru Warriors at Hubbalii on 05.09.15

 

This game witnessed rival skippers opening the innings for their respective teams – KK Nair for Mysuru Warriors and B Chipli for Bijapur Bulls to provide one of the rare occasions in KPL.

 

Mysuru Warriors was dismissed all out for 150 runs in this game to provide the second occasion of it  being  dismissed all out in KPL. The other occasion was against Panthers at Hubballi on 24.09.16 when ir was dismissed for 142.

MS Dhoni’s world record – effects 100 stumping dismissals in one day games

MS Dhoni created a world record in the history of one day games by effecting one hundred stumping dismissals.  A Dananjaya of Sri Lanka became his 100th stumping dismissal. He was dismissed stumped off YS Chahal for 4 in the final one day game at Col-RPS.  MS Dhoni  went past KC Sangakkara of Sri Lanka who had 99 stumping dismissals to  his credit on his way to the world record

India posted two three figure partnerships in the fourth one day game against Sri Lanka – 219 for the third wicket between RG Sharma – V Kohli and 101 runs unfinished partnership for the sixth wicket between MK Pandey-MS Dhoni. These two three figure partnerships gave India 400 three figure partnerships. Thus India became the first team in the history of one day games to post 400 three figure partnerships. Others are – SR Tendulkar {463}, R Dravid {344}, M Azharuddin {334}, SC Ganguly {311} and Yuvraj Singh {304}.  Barring SR Tendulkar and M Azharuddin, other four crickets have represented Asia Eleven.

 

SL Malinga captured his 300th wicket in this game when he captured the wicket of V Kohli caught by Munaweera for 131. He became the 13th bowler in the history of one day games to accomplish the feat. He also became the fourth Sri  Lankan bowler to capture 300 plus wickets in one day games.

 

SL Malinga returned with figures of 1 for 82 in this game to provide the 192nd occasion of a bowler conceding 80 plus runs in one day games. It also provides the 24th occasion of a Sri Lankan bowler conceding 80 plus runs in one day games.
