V Kohli has an aggregate of 2887 runs while leading India in tests prior to the start of the Delhi test against Sri Lanka.  He needed 124 more runs for his 3000 runs. He scored 156 not out at the end of the first day which fetched him 3033 runs. He became the third Indian captain to score 3000 plus runs. Others are MS Dhoni {3454} and SM Gavaskar {3449}.

India posted 283 runs for the third wicket between M Vijay and V Kohli in the ongoing Delhi test which fetched India its 62nd three figure partnership against Sri Lanka. India now shares the record for posting most three figure partnerships against Sri Lanka with Pakistan. Pakistan has posted 62 three figure partnerships for various wickets against Sri Lanka.
