England batsman’s fourth innings test century in losing cause

JC Buttler of England scored 106 against  India in the just concluded test at Nottingham. His effort was in losing cause to provide the 79th occasion of a batsman’s fourth innings test century in a losing cause in the annals of test cricket. It also provides the 20th occasion of an England batsman’s fourth innings test century going in vain. All such occasions are tabulated below
