Three wicketkeepers in a test playing eleven

England fielded three wicket keepers – JM Bairstow, JC Buttler and  BT Foakes – in the playing Eleven against West Indies in its two tests at Bridgetown and  Northsound.  The last named kept the wickets while the other two were used as a specialist batsman. JM Bairstow and JC Buttler had donned the gloves for England earlier.

Sri  C Prahlada Rao, my former boss at Dena Bank and a cricket buff, queried me  whether this a record of sorts. I queried Sri S Rajesh  and Sri Sajan of espncricinfo.com and was told that this poser cannot be queried as the score cards show the name of one wicket keeper who kept the wickets in that innings. They also told me such occasions can be found out by memory

I have found out by my memory that Sri Lanka fielded three wicket keepers – LD Chandimal. BKG Mendis and N Dickwella – in its test against England at Galle in Nov 2018. The last named kept wickets

There may be many more such occasions in the annals of test cricket. Netizens are requested to furnish such  occasions to my email id  hrgopal@gmail.com or on what’s app 93410 73994
