T20 World Cup has taken place on seven occasions. The details are furnished below. West Indies is the only team to win the prestigious cup on two occasions – against Sri Lanka at Colombo by 36 runs in 2012 and against India at Kolkata by four wickets in 2016.

The last edition of 2021 was held in UAE with the host country being India. Australia beat New Zealand by eight wickets at Dub-DSC and is currently the defending champion.
The 2022 edition will be played in Australia from 16 Oct 2022 to 13 Nov 2022,

Sri Lanka {43} and Pakistan {40} are the two teams to play forty plus matches in the tournament.
Sri Lanka has won most games in the tournament – 27 and is closely followed by Pakistan which has won 24 games. Sri Lanka remains the only team to win 25 plus matches in the tournament.
The dubious record of losing most matches in the tournament is credited to Bangladesh. It has lost 25 matches and carries the tag of being the only team to lose 25 matches in the tournament.
There are twelve occasions of team posting a total of 200 plus runs in the tournament. Sri Lanka’s 260 for 6 against Kenya at Johannesburg on 14.09.07 is the highest total posted by a team in the tournament.
The tournament has witnessed 23 occasions of a team dismissed all out for a total of less than 100 runs in the tournament. The lowest total in a completed innings is 39 by Netherlands against Sri Lanka at Chattogram on 24.03.14. This also provides the only occasion of a team dismissed for a total less than 50 runs in the tournament.
The only occasion of a team dismissed all out for 99 is New Zealand’s 99 all out against Pakistan at The Oval on 13 Jun 2009.
There are 30 occasions of a team winning a game by 50 plus runs margin of which four games have been won by 100 plus runs margin. The largest margin of victory is Sri Lanka’s win by 172 runs against Kenya at Johannesburg on 14.09.07. Sri Lanka is the only team to post a win by 150 plus runs in the tournament.
The tournament has witnessed eleven occasion of a team winning a game by nine or more wickets of which four games are won by ten wickets.
