HM Amla will be playing his 19th test against India when he plays the Cape Town Test.  He would then own the record for most South African caps against India. He would go past JH Kallis who has played 18 tests against India.

 

F du Plessis will become the sixth South African captain to lead against India. He would also become the fifth South African captain to lead against India at home. V Kohli  would become the sixth Indian captain to lead against South Africa in South Africa

 

AB de Viliers has an aggregate of 493 runs against India at home. He needs seven more runs for  his 500 runs. If he  scores them, then he  would become the third South African batsman to total 500 plus runs against India at home. Others are – JH Kallis {974} and GC Smith {556}

CA Pujara has taken nine catches against South Africa prior to the start of this test. One more catch would fetch  him  his tenth catch  and  with  it the  distinction of becoming  the eighth Indian fieldsman to pouch ten or more catches against South Africa.

 

AM Rahane and V Kohli have pouched 27 catches and 26 catches on away soil prior to the start of this test. They need three and four more catches for their 30 catches. They would then become the 11th and 12th Indian fieldsman to pouch 30 plus catches on away soil.

 

RA Jadeja has captured 29 wickets against South Africa prior to the start of this test. He needs one more wicket for his 30th wicket. He would then become the seventh Indian bowler to capture 30 plus wickets against South Africa.
