Delhi Daredevils won its game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Raipur on 20.05.16 by six wickets off the last ball of the match to provide the 20th occasion of a team winning an IPL game of the last ball of the match. All such occasions are listed below.

After this article was prepared and published on the blog, Rising Pune Supergiants clinched a last ball win against Kings Eleven Punjab at Vizag on 21.05.16 to provide the 21st such occasion. Hence this article is updated.

It also provides the first such win for Delhi Daredevils in IPL and the second such defeat for Sunrisers.  Prior to this, Rajasthan Royals had carved the win by six wickets of the last ball of the match against Sunrisers at Vizag on 16.04.15.

Batsmen who have scored six hundred plus runs in an edition of IPL – DA Warner joins the elite list

DA Warner of Sunrisers joined the select band of batsmen who have aggregated 600 plus runs in an IPL Edition. His run aggregate in the ongoing IPL 2016 read 640. He reached the milestone of 600 runs when he was on 33 during his knock of 73 in the game against Delhi Daredevils at Raipur on 20.05.16. He became the second batsman to total 600 plus runs In IPL 2016 after V Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore. AB de Villers is all set to join the elite list as he needs three more runs for his 600 runs in IPL 2016.

He needs 20 more runs for 9000 runs in Twenty20 games. He has an aggregate of 8980 runs. If he gets 20 more runs, he would then become the first batsman ever in the history of Twenty20 games to total 9000 runs.  

Another record he is eyeing in T20 games is most boundary fours. He has scored 695 boundary fours and require five more which would fetch him 700 boundary fours. If he gets them, he would then become the first batsmen ever to score 700 boundary fours in the history of Twenty20 games.

He has already scored 650 boundary sixes in T20 games. If he gets 700 boundary fours, he would then become the only batsman in the history of T20 games to score 700 boundary fours and 650 boundary sixes. His T20 record as on date and prior to the  start of the next game of IPL between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils at Raipur on 22.05.16 read thus

SK Raina reached the milestone when he was on 15 during his knock of 53 not out in the match between Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders at Kanpur on 19.05.16. His run aggregate at the end of the game read 4038. V Kohli has scored 4002 runs in IPL. SK Raina earned the distinction of becoming the highest run getter in IPL with 4038 runs to his credit

V Kohli became the first batsman in the history of Twenty20 games to score 2000 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore to own the record of scoring 2000 plus runs on the single ground in the history of Twenty20 games. He reached the milestone when he was on 71 during his knock of 113 in this game and his aggregate read 2042

His 113 in the game against Kings XI Punjab at Bangalore today was his fourth century in the ongoing edition of IPL which also represent his ninth fifty in this edition. He became the first batsman – both in IPL and in T20 games –  to score nine fifties in a T20 series.

His 113 in this game represents his highest IPL score and also T20 score. His previous best was 109 against Gujarat at Bangalore on 14.05.16

His 113 represents his fourth century in IPL and he became the second batsman to score four or more centuries in IPL.  CH Gayle is the other batsman to score four or more centuries in IPL – to be exact five centuries. What is striking is V Kohli has scored his four centuries in a single edition – the ongoing edition of 2016 !!!!

V Kohli became the first batsman in the history of IPL to amass 4000 runs in IPL. He reached the milestone when he was on 111 during his knock of 113 in this game. At the end of this game, his run aggregate read 4002. He went past SK Raina who had a total of 3985 runs on his way to occupy the first place.

V Kohli’s aggregate at the end of this game stands at 865.  He became the first batsman to score 800 plus runs in IPL edition and also his total represent the most runs scored by a batsman in an IPL edition. This total also is a T20 record in a series for a batsman and also the captain.

He shares the record for most fifties in a T20 series in the history of T20 games with JJ Roy of Surrey. V Kohli scored nine fifties {04 C + 05 HC} in the ongoing edition of 2016, while JJ Roy had scored nine fifties {00 C + 09 HC} in Natwest t20 Blast 2014

With nine fifties to his credit – V Kohli now owns the record for most fifties in a single edition of IPL. He went past CH Gayle who had scored eight fifties in IPL 2012

With 865 runs to his credit – V Kohli earned the distinction of becoming the first captain ever to total 800 plus runs in a T20 series in the history of T20 games. He now owns the record for most runs scored by a captain in a T20 series.

CH Gayle {73} and V Kohli {113] scored a fifty and a century in this game to provide the second occasion of one of the openers scoring a fifty and another a century in the history of IPL. The first such occasion was witnessed in the game between Kings Eleven Punjab and Rajasthan Royals at Mohali on 28.05.08. SE Marsh had scored 115 and JR Hopes had made 51

AB de Villers rewrote the record for most catches in a single edition of IPL. He took three catches in this game which fetched him an aggregate of 17 catches in the ongoing edition of IPL. The previous record of most catches was 14 – jointly shared by DA Miller of Punjab in 2014 and DJ Bravo of Chennai in 2013

With four centuries in the ongoing series to his credit, V Kohli  owns the record for most centuries by a captain in any T20 series in the history of T20 games. He went past M Klinger who had scored three centuries for Gloucestershire in Natwest t20 Blast 2015.

With three centuries to his credit at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, V Kohli now shares the record for most centuries on a single ground in the history of T20 games with CH Gayle, who also has scored three centuries at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

V Kohli scored 12 boundary fours in this game which fetched him 185 boundary fours at M Chinnaswamy Stadium V Kohli now has the record for most boundary fours on a single ground in the history of T20 games. He went past P Mustard of Durham who had scored 179 boundary fours at Chester-le-Street and held the record previously in this category of statistics

CH Gayle and V Kohli added 147 runs for the first wicket in this game to provide the 150th occasion of batsmen posting a three figure partnership in IPL. It also provides the 50th occasion of batsmen posting a three figure partnership for the first wicket in IPL. It also provides the 24th occasion of Bangalore batsmen posting a three figure partnership in IPL and also provides the 25th occasion of batsmen posting a three figure partnership against Punjab in IPL.

MS Dhoni set up a new record for most stumping dismissals n the history of Indian Premier League, when he stumped SV Samson of the bowling of A Zampa for 10 in the game between Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiants at Vizag on 17.05.16 effected the 27th stumping dismissal in IPL. He went past KD Karthik who had effected 26 stumping dismissals in IPL.

MS Dhoni’s aggregate dismissals at the end of this game read 89 {62 ct plus 27 st}. He needs one more dismissal which would fetch him 90 dismissals and with it the record of becoming the second wicket keeper in the history of IPL to effect 90 dismissals. KD Karthik has effected 96 dismissals {70 ct plus 26 st}

MS Dhoni has effected 174 dismissals so far in T20 games as of 17.05.16. He needs six more dismissals to go past Kamran Akmal’s record for most dismissals in T20 games – 179. Kamran Akmal {179}, MS Dhoni {174} and KD Karthik {150} are the three wicket keepers to effect 150 plus dismissals in the history of T20 games
