BC Laras’ fifth double century – 216 against Pakistan at Multan in Nov 2006 earned him two records. It was also the 50th double century by a captain in the annals of test cricket.

HM Amla stepped down as captain after the Cape Town test which gave him another record. He became the first and the only captain as on date to score a double century on his farewell test as captain

BA Stokes and JM Bairstow of England added 399 runs for the sixth wicket in the just concluded Cape Town test between South Africa and England to provide the record sixth wicket partnership in the annals of test cricket. The previous best was 365 runs unbeaten partnership between KS Williamson and BJ Waitling in the test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Wellington in Jan 2015.
