An Australian Ground – Perth – witnesses six centuries in a test and the total of these centuries exceeding one thousand runs for the first occasion

Australian test grounds have witnessed six test centuries on nine occasions including the ongoing Perth test against New Zealand. On all the other eight occasions in which six test centuries were scored the aggregate of these six centuries never exceeded one thousand runs. The highest aggregate was 995 at Adelaide against India in Jan 1968. The Perth test is the only test in Australia to witness 1000 plus runs when it witnessed six centuries. It has witnessed 1087 runs in the ongoing test

The first ever test was played in 1877 in Australia at Melbourne and it is interesting to note that in these 138 years of test cricket – an Australian ground has witnessed six hundreds and the aggregate of these six hundreds exceeding 1000 plus runs for the first time.

Australia has hosted 400 tests including the ongoing test against New Zealand and this is the first occasion the total of six hundreds at any ground exceeded 1000 plus runs and the Perth is crowned with this record

Perth has witnessed 34 tests including the ongoing test. It has seen six centuries scored on it for the first occasion and also the total of these six centuries exceeding 1000 plus runs

The Perth test between Australia and New Zealand witnessed six centuries and the aggregate of these six hundred exceeded 1000 runs – to be exact 1087 runs. to provide the sixth occasion of a team scoring six or more centuries and the run aggregate of these six or more centuries exceeding 1000 plus runs.

It is interesting to note that there are two occasion of a test witnessing eight centuries, two occasions of seven centuries and two occasions of six centuries

Perth test now owns the record of most run aggregate when exact six centuries have been scored. It has now 1087 runs. The previous record of most run aggregate wrested with Col-RPS in Aug 1997. The total of six centuries in this test was 1071

The ongoing Perth test between Australia and New Zealand has witnessed three partnerships of 200 plus runs as at the end of fourth day of the test – 302 runs for the second wicket between DA Warner and UT Khawaja for Australia; 265 runs for the third wicket between KS Williamson and LRPL Taylor for New Zealand and 212 runs unfinished partnership for the third wicket between SPD Smith and AC Voges – to provide the sixth occasion of teams posting three partnerships of 200 plus runs in a test match. LRPL Taylor became the second batsman to score a double century when the rival batsmen have scored double centuries on two or more occasions. He had scored 290 in the ongoing test between Australia and New Zealand at Perth when Australian batsman DA Warner had scored 253 in this test. The other occasion of such a feat by him was witnessed at Dunedin in Dec 2013.  LRPL Taylor and DM Bravo scored 217 not out and 218 runs respectively in this test.
