Azhar Ali’s duck in this test provides the 15th
occasion of his scoring a duck in a test innings. He became seventh Pakistan

Azhar Ali’s duck in this test provides the second occasion of
his scoring a duck in a test innings while captaining Pakistan. The other
occasion was against Sri Lanka in the first innings at Karachi in Dec 2019.
Azhar Ali’s duck in this test provides the first occasion of
his scoring a duck in a test innings while captaining Pakistan against England.
In fact this is his first captaincy assignment against England. He had become
the 19th captain to lead Pakistan against England.
When bad light stopped play on the first day, Pakistan had

Highlights of the final day’s play of the third test at Manchester between England and West Indies
SCJ Broad of England became the seventh
bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 500 wickets in tests. His 500th
victim was KC Brathwaite whom he had leg before wicket for 19 in West Indies
second innings. He needed nine wickets
to reach the land mark and captured six wickets in the first innings of the
third test at Manchester and his third wicket West Indies’ second innings on
the final day of the test – that of KC
Brathwaite whom he had leg before – gave him his 500th wicket. At
the end of the test his wicket aggregate read 501. He captured 10 for 67 in
this test – 6 for 31 in the first innings and 4 for 36 in the second innings. The

JM Anderson of England had captured 49
wickets at home against West Indies prior to the start of the third test. He
needed one more wicket for his 50 wickets. SD Hope became his 50th
victim, He became the second England bowler in the annals of test cricket to
capture 50 plus wickets at home against West Indies after FS Trueman. FS
Trueman has captured 56 wickets. At the end of second day’s play, JM Anderson’s
tally of wickets against West Indies at home read 51
Perhaps for the first time, England team had
two pace bowlers with 300 plus wickets in a home test. JM Anderson has an
aggregate of 368 wickets at home and SCJ Broad has an aggregate of 311 wickets
at home prior to the start of the test.
JM Anderson had a tally of 85 wickets
against West Indies prior to the start of the third test. He captured two wickets in West Indies first innings at the
end of second day’s play which fetched him a total of 87 wickets. When he
captured the wicket of SCJ Brooks he captured his 87th wicket
against West Indies. He became the highest wicket taker against West Indies in
tests. He went past FS Trueman’s aggregate of 86 wickets. FS Trueman’s record
stood for 57 years.
With 87 wickets to his credit against West
Indies at the end of second day’s play, JM Anderson now stands third in the
list of bowlers who have captured most wickets against West Indies. The other
two are – GD McGrath {110} and N Kapil Dev {89}.
West Indies bowlers who have captured 200 plus test wickets – KAJ Roach is the latest addition to the list
KAJ Roach captured four for 72 in England’s
first innings and his aggregate of test wickets at the end of England’s innings
