Kamran Akmal was making his 100th one day appearance in this game. He became the 19th wicket keeper batsman and third Pakistani wicket keeper batsman to play 100 one day internationals. ST Jayasuriya was making his 433rd appearance and was playing 421st innings – both are records for a batsman in one day games. He was appearing in his 379th game and playing his 374th innings as an opening batsman which are also records for an opening batsman in one day games.

KC Sangakkara became the fifth captain-cum-wicket keeper in the history of one day internationals to bat at number three. Others are LK Germon of New Zealand {eight matches}, AJ Stewart of England {six matches, MS Dhoni of India {four matches}, A Flower of Zimbabwe {one match}.

DPMD Jayawardene’s run out dismissal for 33 in this game represent the 28th occasion of his being run out in his one day career. He now stands third in the list of Sri Lankan batsmen who have been run out on most occasions in their one day career.

Pakistan capped Mohammad Aamer in this game. He became the 173rd cricketer to be capped by Pakistan in one day games. He also became the 29th Pakistan cricketer to make debut against Sri Lanka.
