N Shekawat helped himself to a magnificent 106. He was concerned with two fifty plus runs partnerships – he added 60 runs with C Gautham for the first wicket and 91 runs for the second wicket in the company of SA Bhavane.- which formed the backbone of the Mangalore United innings.

Rockstars could muster 142 for 7 in its 20 overs leaving the Mangalore United victorious by 53 runs. C Teja {23}, M Mohan {32} and Ritesh Bhatkal {49 not out} were the three batsmen to reach double figures in Rockstars’ innings. N Bhareth, RG More and spinner Mitrakanth Yadav were amongst the wickets with two wickets each.

Put into bat, Hubli Tigers posted a total of 188 for 7 in its knock. Its innings was built around a fine 118 runs partnership between Mohd Taha and AM Reddy for the first wicket. After the fall of first wicket, S Aravind came in at number three in the form of a pinch hitter. The idea misfired as he left without scoring. Wickets fell regularly and the team lost is momentum. Skipper KR Kapoor batted at number eight was baffling. It was a procession of batsman walking back to the pavilion and the opener Mohd Taha was a mute spectator to the parade. Mohd Taha scored 89 with the help of five boundary fours and seven boundary sixes. He now shares the record for most sixes by a batsman in an innings in a KPL game with MA Agarwal, MA Agarwal had scored seven boundary sixes in his knock of 103 representing Belgavi Panthers against Hubli Tigers at Hubli on 08.09.15

While Hubli Tigers lost its wickets regularly, credit should be given to RV Uthappa who used his bowling resources skillfully and restricted the score to 188. Hubli Tigers lost seven wickets for 70 runs in a hurry. A Mithun, MG Naveen and SA Khadir bowled well to capture two wickets each.

Bijapur Bulls had no difficulty in chasing the moderate total. It romped home winners by seven wickets. KB Pawan and Amit Verma propped up the innings with a second wicket stand of 48 runs before the latter was dismissed run out for 27. Amit Verma became the most capped cricketer of KPL with 34 caps to his credit. He also became the fourth batsman to score most runs in KPL. His run aggregate at the end of this game read 695. Put into bat, Mysore Warriors made a mincemeat of Rockstar’s bowling attack to post its highest team total of 219 for 4. The innings was built around a fluent 89 not out by the left hand opener Arjun Hoysala. He was concerned in a first wicket partnership of 118 runs with Rajoo Bhatkal and a second wicket partnership of 61 runs with K Gowtham.

Mysore Warrior’s 219 for 4 provides the sixth occasion of a team posting 200 plus runs in KPL. It also represents the second highest team total in KPL. The highest team total is 245 for 6 by Hubli Tigers against Rockstars at Hubli on 10.09.14

AA Hoysala’s 89 not out represents not only his highest individual innings in KPL but also represent the highest individual innings by a Mysore Warriors batsman in KPL.

Winning the toss, opting to bat first. Mangalore United lost its first two wickets with 11 runs on the board. Opener M Nishit was run out carelessly and SA Bhavane was dismissed without scoring. Third wicket fell at 33 as Rohit Gowda left without scoring. It was left to captain wicket keeper CM Gautham and M Nidesh to prop the innings by adding 89 runs for the fourth wicket

CM Gautham scored 64 – his highest score in KPL which was also his second fifty, while M Nidesh notched his fourth fifty of the tournament to become the 12th batsman to score four of more fifties in KPL.

 

Mangalore United posted a total of 148 for 7 in its 20 overs. After the exit of M Nidesh, the team lost direction and skipper CM Gautham stood as mute spectator as wickets fell around him. CM Gautham almost batted through the twenty overs. He was dismissed for 64 of the penultimate delivery of the innings. From 122 for 3, Mangalore United finished with a total of 148 for 7 – losing four wickets for 26 runs.

Mysore Warriors found the target very easy. Its openers – A Arjun Hoysala and R Bhatkal were concerned in an opening stand of 73 runs. R Bhatkal scored 48 runs.
