Opting to bat after winning the toss, Mangalore United put up a total of 142 for 7 in its twenty overs. It lost the opening batsman Bharat Chipli for zero of the second ball of the match {1 for 2}. K Nair and Niduvan repaired the damage by forging a 44 runs partnership for the second wicket. Accurate bowling by N Mulky saw Mangalore team lose two more wickets with the score board reading 4 for 54. Then ensued a face saving partnership of 75 runs for the fifth wicket between K Nair and D Sequiria. K Nair departed at 127 at 18,1 overs {score 7 for 127}. Mangalore United added 16 more runs in 11 deliveries and in the process lost two more wickets at 140 and 142.

K Nair held the centre stage with a well compiled half century. He scored 63 runs in 84 minutes and faced 52 deliveries. His innings contained four fours and a six. Nidhuvan scored 28 of 22 deliveries and hit 3 fours and a six. D Sequiria grafted his 35 runs in a stay of 39 minutes. His innings contained a six and no fours.

N Mulky {4 for 15} and S Jayaprakash {2 for 28} shared the six of the seven wickets that fell in Mangalore’s innings while one batsman was run out. N Mulky was the most successful bowler on the scene. He contained the Mangalore batsmen effectively as he bowled 12 dot balls of his 24 balls quota – a noteworthy effort from a right arm medium fast bowler.

Bijapur Bulls too started shakily by losing inform MR Beerala for 2 and the score board read 1 for 7. G Dhiman and Jayaprakash added 54 runs for the second wicket. G Dhiman departed at the score of 61 and Jayaprakash followed him at 62. One more wicket – that of DT Patil – fell at 64. Captain S Shinde departed at 76. Bijapur Bulls had lost four wickets for 15 runs in a space of 18 deliveries and were in a spot of bother. But the experienced ST Binny had the other ideas and thwarted the Mangalore team’s plans. He played with a lot of composure and assurance and added 44 runs for the sixth wicket in the company of N Mulky.

Though Bijapur Bulls lost two more wickets at 135, victory was always on the cards with experienced ST Binny holding the forte at the other end. He saw his team to a two wickets win. His contribution to the team’s win was invaluable. He came to the crease when his team was tottering at 5 for 76. He held one end firmly secure and top scored the innings with a well complied 47 not out. He stayed at the crease for 50 minutes and faced 32 deliveries. He hit three four and a six.

G Dhiman scored 34 runs of 27 balls with five fours, while Jayaprakash’s 24 came of 22 balls and contained 2 fours and a six.

Put into bat after losing the toss, Mysore Maharaajas put up a decent total of 133 for 7 in its 20 overs. Opener KB Pawan {27}, C Raghu {25} and Skipper CJ William {22 not out} were the main contributors to the total. It was a sedate display by Mysore team against a disciplined bowling by Malnad team. Malnad bowlers posed all sorts of troubles for the Mysore batsmen and had them reeling at 101 for 6. A brilliant throw by R Ninan to the wicket keeper KC Avinash caught C Raghu short of his crease and he was run out for 25 {7 for 123 at 19.3 overs}. Lusty hitting by Skipper CJ William who scored ten runs of the last three deliveries saw Mysore team reach 133.

SL Akshay {2 for 40}, K Gowtham {2 for 22} and SK Moinuddin {2 for 16} shared the six wickets that fell in Mysore’s innings. There was one run out. SL Akshay conceded 40 runs and was the most expensive bowler while SK Moinuddin was the most effective bowler – both in terms of wickets captured and runs conceded – with his figures of 2 for 16

Malnad’s fielding was excellent as they took six catches with SL Akshay taking two of them. Their ground fielding was also good as they deprived the batsmen many runs.

Ganesh Satish led from the front in Malnad’s chase. Known for his perseverance to stay at the crease and also building up of partnerships, he remained not out on 58 and steered his team to a facile seven wickets victory. He stayed at the crease for 85 minutes and faced 55 deliveries. His essay contained four fours and a six. It was a perfect finish for Ganesh Satish as winning runs came of his bat.

He forged useful partnerships in this game – added 29 runs for the first wicket with Shashindra, 15 runs for the second wicket with Sanjay Kumar, 61 runs for the third wicket with Kunal Kapoor and 30 runs in an unfinished stand for the fourth wicket with Ryan Ninan

His 61 runs partnership with Kunal Kapoor for the third wicket shut Mysore team out of the race. Both the batsmen picked up the gaps well for their singles and twos, waited for the loose deliveries and punished them for boundaries and sixes. Kunal Kapoor scored 28 runs in a stay of 42 minutes in 32 deliveries and hit a four and a six. More importantly, Ganesh Satish and Kunal Kapoor showed the willingness to stay at the wicket and raised the third wicket stand which was worth 61 runs.

Kunal Kapoor departed at 105 and in came Ryan Ninan – known for his lusty hits. He did not disappoint his captain who was batting at the other end. Ninan scored 15 runs of the 13 deliveries he faced and hit a six.

For the losers, AB Sagar {1 for 27}, CJ William {1 for 11} and CS Raghavendra {1 for 22} shared the three wickets that fell in the victor’s innings

It was any body’s game with the match going to the wire, but the team which had nerves in a tense finish won the game. Full credit must go to Belgavi Panthers for defending the total of 131 runs and winning the game by a whisker.

Batting first Belgavi Panthers scored 131 for 8 in its 20 overs. They had lost their seven wickets for 88 runs and were in a none too comfortable position, but a whirlwind stand of 43 runs for the eighth wicket between B Naveen and S Dhananjaya saw them to the total of 131 which in the end became a match winning total.

S Hoover {33 with 3 fours and 2 sixes}, B Naveen {22 not out with 1 four and a six} and S Dhananjaya {28 not out with one four and two sixes} were the mainstay of Panther’s innings.

S Hoover was concerned with a 20 run stand with BMV Uthappa for the fifth wicket and also ensured a 33 run stand with B Naveen for the seventh wicket.

DN Sagar {1 for 26}, Z Farooqi {2 for 19}, MV Prasad {1 for 36} and M Vinod {2 for 19} shared the six wickets that fell to bowlers. There were two run outs in Panther’s innings.

Bangalore Brigadiers started their innings confidently through S Ibrez and KL Rahul who added 26 runs for the first wicket. KL Rahul and N Shekawat added 17 runs for the second wicket. They lost four more wickets in a hurry and the score board read a dismal 76 for the loss of six wickets.

Seventh wicket stand between NV Prasad and M Vinod produced 13 runs, eighth wicket stand between M Vinod and DN Sagar yielded 25 runs and an unfinished stand of 16 runs for the ninth wicket took the scored to 130 for eight.

M Vinod was the top scorer in Brigadiers’ innings with 29 runs. His runs came in a stay of 29 minutes at the crease and he faced 15 deliveries. He hit one four and three sixes.

One run separated the victors and the vanquished. B Naveen captured four for 20 runs and was the pick of the Belgavi bowlers. Zeeshan Ali was a good foil to him with a bag of 3 for 20.

Veteran Yere Goud was at his best in this game and was the top scorer of the match. In a stay of 52 minutes he faced 31 deliveries and hit two boundaries in his score of 30. He forged partnerships of 18 runs for the second wicket with MA Agarwal, 41 runs for the third wicket in the company of SN Raju. SN Raju {23} was the next best scorer in Davanagere team.
