Afghanistan and UAE became the first two teams to play the first Asis Cup 2016 T20 tournament. UAE became the first team to win a game In Asia Cup 2016 T20 tournament while Afghanistan earned the dubious distinction of becoming the first team to lose a game in Asia Cup 2016 T20 tournament

Dawlat Zardan of Afghanistan earned the honour of delivering the first ball in the tournament, while Rohan Mustafa earned the honour of facing the first of the tournament

Amjad Javed – the UAE Captain – won the toss in this inaugural game and opted to bat first. Asgar Stanikzai was the Afghanistan captain. The rival wicket keepers were SP Patil for UAE and Mohammad Shahzad for Afghanistan

His century provides the first occasion of a batsman’s century going in vain as Hong Kong lost the game by five runs

KD Shah of Hong Kong earned the dubious distinction of scoring the first duck of the tournament when he failed to open his account in this game. As he opened the innings he became the first opening batsman to score a duck in the tournament. Nizakat Khan of Hong Kong became the first batsman in the tournament to collect the first ball duck.

Zeeshan Maqsood of Oman became the first bowler in the tournament to be honoured with a “Bowler’s fifty”. He returned with figures of 4.0-0-54-1 in this game. As on date he is credit with the tag of most expensive bowler in terms of runs conceded in the tournament

Shahid Afridi captured 5 for 7 representing Peshwar Zalmi against Quetta Gladiators at Sharjah on 14.02.16 in the ongoing Pakistan Super League to provide the second best bowling figures by a captain in the history of Twenty20 games. The best figures are credited to Shakib Al Hasan who returned with figures of 2.4.-0-18-6 while leading Prime Bank against Moahammedan at Sylhet on 26.12.13.

RS Bopara representing Karachi Kings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League captured 6 for 16 against Lahore Qalandars at Sharjah on 12.02.16 to join the select band of 20 bowlers who have captured six wickets in the history of Twenty20 games. His feat provides the 22nd occasions of a bowler capturing six or more wickets in the history of Twenty20 games.  He also became the 11th bowler {12th occasion} to capture six wickets conceding 16 or less than 16 runs in the history of Twenty20 games.
