Hobart test witnesses three One hundred plus year old records rewritten or equaled

I have mentioned these records separately, but thought to put them again in one page for a better presentation. So here they are

DA Warner’s “most ball duck”

DA Warner was dismissed for a zero after 22 deliveries. It took 133 years and 11 months for DA Warner to rewrite the record for “most ball duck” against England. DA Warner’s 22nd ball duck came at Hobart in Jan 2022, while SP Jone’s 20 ball duck had come at Sydney in Feb 1888

DA Warner shares the record for most ducks by an opening batsman against England.

DA Warner’s duck in this test represents his fifth duck of his test career as an opening batsman against England. He became the second Australian opening batsman to score five ducks against England after VT Trumper.

It is interesting to note that both the batsmen have collected a pair while scoring five ducks. VT Trumper collected a paid at Melbourne in Feb 1908 while DA Warner’s pair came at Manchester in Sep 2019.

It took 113 years and nine months for DA Warner to equal the record of five ducks by an Australian opening batsman against England. DA Warner’s fifth duck came in Jan 2022 while VT Trumper had scored his fifth duck in Feb 1908.
