DA Warner and SPD Smith scored ducks in this test to provide the fifth and sixth occasion of batsmen scoring ducks in a day-night test in Australia-England test series. They also became the first and second Australian batsmen to score ducks in a day-night test against England.

DA Warner scored duck in this test to provide the second occasion of an opening batsman scoring duck in a day-night test in Australia-England test series. H Hameed of England is the other opening batsman to score a duck, He was dismissed without scoring in fourth innings of the Adelaide test in Dec 2021.

This is the first test series between Australia and England in Australia in which two day-night tests are played. Apart from the current ongoing test at Hobart, the second test of the series played at Adelaide in Dec 2021 was also a day-night test.

TM Head of Australia scored 101 in this test to provide the 323rd occasion of Australian batsman scoring a century against England. It also provides the 182nd occasion of Australian batsman scoring a century against England on home soil.

TM Head became the third Australian batsman to score a century against England in a day-night test.

KD Petersen’s 72 in in South Africa’s first innings represent his second fifty of his test career. Prior to this he had scored 62 against India at Johannesburg in the second test of the series. Thus his 72 represents his highest individual score in a test innings.

SR Tendulkar with 1161 runs occupies the first place.

V Kohli went past S Ganguly’s run aggregate of 4031 runs on away soil when he was on two during his knock of 79 in India’s first innings of this test. At the end of his innings, his run aggregate read 4110. He now occupies the fifth place in the list of Indian batsmen who have scored most runs on away soil. Others are – SR Tendulkar {8075}, R Dravid {7667}, SM Gavaskar {5055} and VVS Laxman {5014}

CA Pujara’s run aggregate against South Africa in South Africa read 526 at the end of his innings in India’s first innings of this test. He became the sixth Indian batman to total 500 plus runs against South Africa in South Africa. Others are – SR Tendulkar {1161}, V Kohli {651+}, R Dravid {624}, VVS Laxman {566} and SC Ganguly {502}

V Kohli scored 79 in India’s first innings which represents his 30th fifty on away soil {14C+16HC}. He became the sixth Indian batsman to score 30 plus fifties on away soil. Others are – SR Tendulkar {65}, R Dravid {57}, VVS Laxman {41}, SM Gavaskar {40} and SC Ganguly {30}

V Kohli scored 79 in India’s first innings which represents his 55th fifty of his test career. He became the fifth Indian batsman to score 55 plus fifties. Others are – SR Tendulkar {119}, R Dravid {99}, SM Gavaskar {79} and VVS Laxman {73}. V Kohli went past V Sehwag who had scored 54 fifties on away soil to become the fifth Indian batsman to score 55 fifties on away soil.
