WM Lawry and IM Chappell added 298 runs for the second wicket and the score at the fall of second wicket read 312. WM Lawry scored 205 and IM Chappell scored 165. IM Chappell was the batsman dismissed at the fall of the second wicket for 165 before he was bowled by GS Sobers.

It is interesting to note that WM Lawry has been a part on both the occasions. In 1968 as a batsman and 47 years later –  in 2015 as a commentator

BB McCullum became the second batsman in the annals of test cricket to score one hundred boundary sixes in tests after AC Gilchrist. AC Gilchrist was the first batsman to score one hundred boundary sixes in the annals of test cricket.

BB McCullum achieved this coveted distinction in the just concluded Dunedin test against Sri Lanka. Bowlers capturing thirty plus wickets conceding less than 350 runs in a test series

R Ashwin captured 31 wickets conceding 345 runs in the just concluded home series against South Africa to become the only spinner and the third bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 30 plus wickets conceding less than 350 runs. Quite interestingly all the three bowlers have chosen to perform the feat  against South Africa.

GA Lohmann of England was the first bowler to capture 30 plus wickets conceding less than 350 runs. He captured 35 wickets conceding 203 runs against South Africa in 1895-96. SF Barnes of England emulated GA Lohmann by capturing 34 wickets conceding 282 runs in 1912 test series.  Both GA Lehmann and SF Barnes performed the feat in three test series which is incredible. R Ashwin’s 31 wickets came in four tests. The performance of these three bowlers are furnished below
