SPD Smith – Australian captain scored his sixth century in the calendar year 2017 when he scored 102 not out in the drawn test against England at Melbourne. His feat of six centuries as captain in 2017 provides the fourth occasion of a captain scoring six or more centuries in a calendar year. Others are – RT Ponting {seven in 2006 and six in 2005} and GC Smith {Six in 2008}. He became the third captain to accomplish such a feat in the annals of test cricket. His feat provides the third occasion of an Australian captain scoring six or more centuries in a calendar year.
