KPL VI –  Match number 03 – Bijapur Bulls vs Mysuru Warriors at Mysuru on 04.09.17 – Mysuru Warriors won by four runs

 

KK Nair run aggregate in KPL read 812. He became the sixth batsman in the history of KPL to total 800 plus runs. Others are – MA Agarwal {1165}, KB Pawan {827}, R Jonathan {823}, Amit Verma {819} and R Samarth {802}

 

KC Cariappa’s lone wicket  in this  game fetched him an aggregate of 30 wickets in KPL. He became the bowler to capture 30 plus wickets in KPL as at the end of Mysuru Warrior’s innings.  Others are – K Gowtham {48}, R Vinay Kumar {43}, J Suchith {42}, VV Kumar {35}, Amit Verma {34}, NC Aiyappa {31} and SL Akshay {31}

 

RG More captured 4 for 25  in this game to provide the 36th occasion of a  bowler capturing four or more wickets in an innings in KPL. It also provides the third occasion of Bijapur Bulls bowler capturing four wickets in KPL. Others are – N Mulky – 4-15 vs Mangalore at Bangalore on 19.09.10 and KC Cariappa – 4-19 vs Rockstars at Bangalore on 07.09.14

 

RG More registered his best bowling figures in KPL with his 4 for 25 in this game. His previous best was 2 for 14 representing Mangalore against Mysuru Warriors at Hubbalii on 05.09.15

 

This game witnessed rival skippers opening the innings for their respective teams – KK Nair for Mysuru Warriors and B Chipli for Bijapur Bulls to provide one of the rare occasions in KPL.

 

Mysuru Warriors was dismissed all out for 150 runs in this game to provide the second occasion of it  being  dismissed all out in KPL. The other occasion was against Panthers at Hubballi on 24.09.16 when ir was dismissed for 142.

 

M Nidesh and D Negi added 100 runs for the fourth wicket in this game to provide the 26th occasion of batsmen posting a three figure partnership in KPL. It also provides the fifth occasion of Bijapur Bulls batsmen posting a three figure partnership in KPL.

 

M Nidesh and D Negi added 100 runs for the fourth wicket in this game to provide the record partnership for the fourth wicket in KPL. The previous best was 97 runs partnership between SK Jain and B Akhil of Provident against Brigadiers at Bangalore on 13.09.09.

 

Mysuru Warriors won this game by four runs to provide the 16th occasion of a team winning a game by single digit margin in KPL. It also provides the third occasion of a team winning a KPL game by exact four runs. The other two occasions are – Mangalore winning the game by four runs against Bulls at Mysore on 31.08.14 and Diamonds winning the game by four runs against Provident at Bangalore on 18.09.10

 

Mysuru Warriors won this game by four runs to provide the third occasion of it winning a game by single digit margin in KPL. The other two occasions are – Nine runs win against Bellary at Hubli  on 28.09.16 and six runs win against Panthers at Bangalore on 06.09.14

Intermittent rain delayed the start of the game at the scheduled time and the game started at 9.45 PM. An eight over a side game with two overs of power play was played.

Mysuru Warriors won this game by 38 runs to register its 16th win in KPL. Mysuru Warriors became the fifth team to win 16 or more games in KPL.  Other teams to post 16 or more wins in KPL are – Bijapur Bulls {22}, Belagavi Panthers {21}, Hubli Tigers {16} and Mangalore United [16}

 

SL Akshay earned the distinction of becoming the first cricketer in KPL to represent five teams. He had represented Hubli Tigers, Malnad Gladiators, Mangalore United in the earlier editions and he is representing Mysuru Warriors  in this edition.

Belgavi Panthers are led by S Aravind in this edition. He became the third captain to lead Panthers in KPL. Others are – R Vinay Kumar {25 games} and J Arun Kumar {16 games}

 

Hubli Tigers are led by R Vinay Kumar in this game. He became the fifth captain to lead Hubli Tigers in KPL. Others are – KR Kapoor {15 games}, B Akhil {05 games}, S Aravind {04 games} and KL Rahul {01 games}

 

It is interesting to note that the rival captains in this game – S Aravind of Panthers and R Vinay Kumar of Hubli Tigers had led the opposite teams in the earlier editions of IPL. S Aravind had led Hubli Tigers in four matches in 2015 edition, while R Vinay Kumar had led Panthers in 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of KPL

 

R Vinay Kumar who had represented Panthers in all the earlier five editions of KPL is representing the second team in KPL. He has appeared for Hubli Tigers in this edition.

 

R Vinay Kumar captured his 42nd wicket in KPL when he had BR Sharath leg before wicket for 1 in this game. This wicket gave him the joint second place amongst the bowlers who have captured most wickets  in KPL with J Suchith who has also captured 42 wickets in KPL. The first place is occupied by K Gowtham who has an aggregate of 47 wickets. R Vinay Kumar returned with two wickets in this game which fetched him 43 wickets in KPL. The tournament is scheduled for September 1 to 23 and will be telecast live by Star Sports.
The illustrious Karnataka captain has a bunch of exciting players whom he believes have the potential to win the coveted title. Hubli Tigers had finished runner-up in the last two editions of the KPL – 2015 and 2016.
“I am happy to be associated with Hubli Tigers. There are a lot of talented lads in the squad. I am confident that they will put their hands together to achieve our goal.
“I have been part of the KPL from its inception, but the title had eluded me. As a player and captain, this is a good opportunity to add another feather in my cap,” said Vinay, who had led Karnataka to a rare double-triple in domestic cricket.
“I had a discussion with the team owners. They are very supportive. It will be great if we win the elusive cup for them,” said Vinay.
Dashing opener Mayank Agarwal, all rounder Praveen Dubey, David Mathias and Abhishek Reddy are the key players in the Hubli Tigers’ squad.
“Hubli Tigers believe in fair play. I want the players to go and express themselves on the field. We are in it, to win it, “said team owner Sushil Kumar Jindal, who has adopted a tiger at the Mysore Zoo.
Hubli Tigers will play their first match on September 2 at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.

Mysuru Warriors names Karun Nair as the captain for KPL 2017

Mysuru Warriors, a cricket franchise from Agarbathi to Aerospace conglomerate, NR Group, appointed Karun Nair as the captain of the team for the upcoming edition of Karbonn Smartphones Karnataka Premier League. The 25-year-old prolific batsman will be leading the tournament, scheduled to start from September 1, 2017.
Karun is an Indian international cricketer, who has led Delhi Daredevils in the second leg of IPL this year. The talented cricketer will also be heading India ‘A’ team in the forthcoming test series against South Africa’s ‘A’ team. Karun will be joining the Mysuru Warriors by the end of this month, post his South Africa series.
Speaking about this latest appointment, Arjun Ranga, Owner, Mysuru Warrior says, “We are very confident about Karun Nair’s leadership skills. He along with our coaches has the ability to guide the team to excellence. Our good wishes are with the team.”

The team will soon commence their practice session at the SJCE Grounds, Mysuru, from August 14. The two top players of the team-Suchith J. and Shreyas Gopal will be joining the preparatory sessions after the conclusion of the ongoing Capt. K.Thimmappaiah Tournament organized by KSCA. Along with the selected team members, the 12 shortlisted players from the talent hunt will also be going through a regress practice session, after which 2 players will be chosen to officially represent Mysuru Warriors, in this year’s KPL  tournament.
The Mysuru Warriors’ new team for KPL 2017 includes Arjun Hoysala, Suchith J., K.C. Avinash, Shreyas Gopal, SuneelRaju, Bhareth N.P., Manjunath S.P., S.L. Akshay, Nikith S., Vyshak Kumar, Prateeksh R., Shivil Kaushik, Shrijith K.L., Vineet Yadav, Kushal Waadwani, Vikas Kumar Sinha and Ram SarikhYadav.

The team has retained Rx Murali as the head coach and Vijay Madyalkar as the assistant coach, along with Shyam Rao as the trainer and Raghavendra as his assistant. The team has also associated with Dr. Shravan as the team physiotherapist and Mohan Das as the assistant physiotherapist. The team also brings M.S. Ravindra as the talent manager, M.R. Suresh as the team manager and N. Arjun Kumar as the logistics manager for KPL 2017.

RP Kadam scored his sixth fifty in KPL when he made 61 in this game. He became the seventh batsman in KPL to score six or more fifties. Others are – R Samarth {07}, MA Agarwal {07}, Mohd Taha {06}, RK Sabharwal {06}, RV Uthappa {06} and B Chipli {06}

RP Kadam and SN Raju completed 500 runs in this game. At the end of this game RP Kadam’s run aggregate read 557, while SN Raju’r run aggregate read 512. They became the 24th and 25th batsmen to compile 500 plus runs in KPL.

B Akhil scored 50 in this game which fetched him his fifth fifty in KPL. He became the 14th batsman to score five or more fifties in KPL.
