The previous record was the 353 runs partnership between VVS Laxman and SR Tendulkar against Australia at Sydney in Jan 2004. The 365 runs partnership between V Kohli and AM Rahane for the fourth wicket in this game also represents the record partnership for the fourth wicket against New Zealand. Captains scoring two or more double centuries in a calendar year

V Kohli became the sixth captain in the annals of test cricket to score two hundreds in the same calendar year. He scored 200 against West Indies at North Sound in Jul 2016 and followed it up with 211 against New Zealand in the ongoing test at Indore. He became the first Indian captain to accomplish such a feat.
