He has scored 1490 runs in the calendar year 2016 as on date and prior to the start of the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils at Raipur on 22.05.16.  Ten more runs would fetch him 1500 runs and with it the distinction of becoming the second batsman to total 1500 plus runs in a calendar year in the history of Twenty20 games. His feat would provide the third such occasion. CH Gayle has scored 1665 in 2015 and 1532 in 2012

Batsmen scoring centuries in IPL with the help of ten or more boundary fours and ten or more boundary sixes – AB de Villiers is the third batsman to accomplish such a feat

AB de Villiers scored 129 not out in this game. His century comprised of 10 boundary four and 12 boundary sixes. He became the third batsman in the history of IPL to score a century with the help of ten or more boundary four and ten or more boundary sixes. Others to accomplish such a feat are BB McCullum and CH Gayle. Interesting enough, all the three batsmen have chosen Bangalore as the ground to accomplish the feat and all the three batsmen are overseas batsmen.
